Yamaha FJ1200

The Yamaha FJ1200 was first manufactured in 1989.

It is the ideal alternative for classic models of the motorcycle variety which many people say are not the best choice for daily use. This Yamaha model is very easy to maintain and service. The top of its engine is very easily accessible. Mechanics find it easy to do service checks on it especially when it comes to curb balancing, spark plug access and checks on valve clearance.

The performance of this bike can be said to be satisfactory. Its engine can best be categorized in the mid-range category. The mid-range starts off at between 3000 and 4000rpm and increases proportionately with increase in revs. For this reason, it does not take any effort for one to overtake vehicles in a highway. It also gains immense torque within a short time. You can easily maintain a very upright riding posture over a very long time without feeling very tired. For people who like a riding position that enables them to plan further ahead, this is the model to go for.

This FJ model was introduced into the market in a very entertaining note, as an XS1100 lump which was a very fine machine. This machine had a very strong chassis that made it the ideal choice for sports enthusiasts. Its glory was short-lived since the GPZ900R quickly took its place. From then, the Yamaha FJ remained unmodified throughout the next decade.

In terms of comfort, this bike is a rather practical model. Its best feature is that it will take you through the harshest of terrains. However, if you are riding for long journeys, then the running costs will end up being very high compared to those of its main competitors. The Yamaha FJ 200 is an air-cooled model whose engine you will find very easy to maintain. This is the kind of the bike which is best for riding on during not-so-hot weather.
